Position OPERATIONS MANAGER
Jobdescription Salem Media Group in Washington, DC is looking for a Full-Time Operations Manager for its cluster of radio stations in Arlington, Virginia. This individual will oversee the on-air programming operations for this market, reporting to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight in the execution of an excellent on-air sound and imaging for the stations, with a goal of growing audience engagement and response for our clients.

Ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations and Salem Media Group policies.

Be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling of programming personnel.

Work with other department heads to create and fine-tune interaction between the programming team members and other departments of the radio station.

Oversee Production needs including the production of commercials, promos, station imaging/Legal IDs and voice tracking.

Manage automated systems for peak performance.

Coordinate audio streaming processes including web and app-based systems.

Work with sales staff for on-air and promotional execution of sales promotions.

Work with programming clients on the production of their programs.

Coordinate with station Promotions Director to maximize digital assets including websites, social media presence, Alexa, and other technologies.

Work closely with department heads to create an efficient and productive operation with a positive environment: Engineering, Traffic, Sales, Promotions, HR, and Administration.

Skills, Qualifications and Characteristics:

Commitment to integrity, valuing people, and a positive team environment with team participation.

Excellent people skills and strong communications ability. Excellent written and oral speaking ability.

Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Desire to be visible with Programming team members, and all radio station staff.

At least 5 years of experience in radio operations management related work.

Experience with Production of radio ads, long-form radio programs and live talk radio. Experience with Adobe Audition and similar software.

Experience with digital automation systems such as Rivendell.

Proficiency in digital audio editing and production

Experience with Axia soundboards and software.

Ability to solve problems with creativity.

Knowledge of advertising sales and desire to serve the Sales Department needs, including Production, spec ads, writing spots, and working with clients.

Experience working with the Evangelical and Conservative culture, leaders and listening audience.

A positive and energetic style, with high integrity, strong work ethic, and ownership of outcomes.

A strong radio announcer voice is a plus.

Ability to respond to and resolve urgent issues when challenges arise 24/7…Overnights, Evenings, Early Morning and Weekends.
