WBAL-TV, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Baltimore, Maryland has an opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician. The person in this role maintains the station’s broadcast and IT equipment and systems from acquisition to distribution and provides technical and IT support for all station efforts.

Job Responsibilities
This employee will maintain, configure and install the following:

• Television broadcasting and news gathering equipment and systems, including ENG cameras, field gear, ENG and SNG trucks, satellite antenna systems, TV transmitters, microwave receive and relay equipment, editing software and hardware, robotic camera controls, video switchers, video play out and ingest servers, graphics hardware and software, lighting systems and devices, weather forecasting systems, signal distribution and routing systems, audio and video processing, broadcast automation, audio consoles and numerous support devices.
• IT systems and associated hardware and software. This includes infrastructure and end user support.
• Conducts troubleshooting, installation, research, documentation and cabling tasks.

Qualifications:
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to plan and execute equipment installation, research/design, and detailed documentation of work.
• Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems.
• Working understanding of IP network operation and configuration.
• In depth knowledge of video production and television systems.
• Must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other team members in a respectful and productive manner.
• Must possess a positive attitude and be driven by successful problem solving.
• Flexible to various work shifts and days off as assigned.
• Capable of following instructions, verbal and written.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on rooftops and in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license; position requires some travel to remote sites within area.

Education:
• Associates Degree in Electronic/IT Technology, a minimum of two-years of an accredited technical electronics / IT school or military equivalent, or related work experience in a Television / Video / IT environment.
• SBE / SMPTE / IT Certifications are a plus.
