WBAL Radio, Hearst's multiplatform operation in Baltimore, MD, is looking for a Digital Media Editor to oversee its growing web, mobile and social platforms.

The primary focus of the role will be leading the strategy for all content efforts of WBAL Radio's digital platforms. The Digital Media Editor will craft and execute the strategy and tactics to achieve our journalistic, content and business goals. You will be responsible for working with other digital staff members, news anchors, producers and on-air hosts to assign and produce content every day. An ideal candidate will have previous digital management experience at a multiplatform media organization.

Beyond the significant Digital Media Editor role, this person will also assist our Digital Operations Manager in various aspects of both WBAL Radio and 98 Rock's digital footprint.

Job Responsibilities:                                    

Oversee all activity on WBAL.com and all of WBAL Radio's other digital platforms.

On-site management of digital editors and of the work of WBAL Radio personnel designated to service digital.

Aggressively pursue several online key performance goals.

Writing, cleaning and editing news articles for WBAL Radio in the form of web articles, newsletters, social media posts, videos, mobile alerts and other digital platforms.

Repurpose WBAL Radio talk show content for use on the website and social media accounts.

Creating content and maintaining WBAL's social media accounts including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Coordinate with field reporters to aid in writing stories and uploading of video, audio, photos and other digital elements to the web and social media channels.

Use the website, social media and other digital platforms to promote the overall WBAL Radio brand as well as promote on-air and on-line listening of the station.

Regularly communicate pertinent metrics concerning digital growth and trends to Digital Operations Manager, News Director, Program Director, General Manager and necessary staff with special attention paid to daily metric measurement.

Serve as backup to Digital Operations Manager in aspects of WBAL Radio and 98 Rock's digital content strategy, digital marketing, digital sales, streaming media and vendor contract management.

Qualifications Requirements:                                             

Familiarity with Adobe Audition, Audition, Photoshop, Premier and Illustrator (or like programs) preferred.

Familiarity with Radio Broadcasts preferred.

Familiarity with live video production and editing preferred.

Familiarity with Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / YouTube and its relationship with news consumers, online marketing and web traffic.

Preferred Experience:

Previous journalism experience

Previous experience in broadcast performance

Previous experience in graphic production

Previous experience in web site content management
