Details: Jayne Miller Investigative Journalism Fellowship The Jayne Miller Investigative Journalism Fellowship is a one-semester paid position at Hearst Television's NBC affiliate WBAL-TV in Baltimore, MD. The Fellowship is named for Jayne Miller, a veteran journalist who served as Lead Investigative Reporter at Hearst Television???s WBAL-TV in Baltimore for more than 35 years. The Fellowship is open to senior level college applicants who have a strong interest in television news investigative journalism. More About Jayne Miller A Penn State Alum, Jayne began her career in journalism with a small daily newspaper in State College Pennsylvania. Jayne had a reputation for breaking stories that otherwise may never be told. Her work uncovered corrupt public officials and unethical practices in private business. It raised issues of accountability and effectiveness in the criminal justice system. Frequently, Jayne's reporting resulted in changes in legislation and public policy and sparked widespread debate. During her more than 45-year career, Jayne has earned national and regional awards in journalism, including a DuPont Award from Columbia Journalism School, a National Edward R. Murrow Award and the Radio Television Digital News Association Lifetime Achievement Award. The Opportunity The Fellowship is designed to give students exposure to the television broadcast news industry with a top-30 news market.
